-Group members can come prepared with specific concerns or questions to get support/advice from other people dealing with Parkinson's
-Group members can share what they've learned to appreciate or appreciate more since being diagnosed with PD
-Group members can share what they've learned about themselves since getting diagnosed with PD
We see ourselves (those with PD) as the experts too, experts in having PD —who better to give feedback and helpful support? This is what a true support group is about.
Dr. Jennifer Pallone, D.O.
Neurologist
Dr. Pallone serves as the Director of the Movement Disorder/Aging Brain Center at The Neurological Institute and Specialty Centers.
Dr. Pallone received her degree in osteopathic medicine from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. She completed her internship at the Normandy Osteopathic Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and residencies at the Chicago Osteopathic Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Pallone is certified in neurology by the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Dr. Pallone has special interest in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
Elizabeth Delaney, LCSW
Center Coordinator/ Neurology Social Work Manager
Columbia University Irving Medical Center
Helps patients and families navigate treatment plan and coordinate medical care plans, including social work assessments and connection to concrete services
Promotes multidisciplinary approach to help patients manage disease by evaluating local resources for patient referrals and services (support groups, physical/occupational/speech therapy, exercise programs, etc.)
