PWP/MD: Lunch with Your Doctor

Dr. Ray Dorsey of University of Rochester Medical Center will be speaking on his favorite topic, “A Prescription for Action and Ending Parkinson’s Disease...Learning to Think Forward and Set your Priorities. Physical Therapist Jennifer Reid will open the discussion with thoughts on "Bridging the Physical Activity Gap in PD.”

Dr. Ray Dorsey is David M. Levy Professor of Neurology and Director of the Center for Health + Technology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Dorsey is helping investigate new treatments for movement disorders and improve the way care is delivered for individuals with Parkinson disease and other neurological disorders. Using simple web-based video conferencing, he and his colleagues are seeking to provide care to individuals with Parkinson and neurological diseases anywhere that they live.

Dr. Dorsey previously directed the movement disorders division and neurology telemedicine at Johns Hopkins and worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, and business school at the Wharton School.

Dr. Dorsey's research has been published in the leading medical, neurology, and economic journals and has been featured on National Public Radio, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Collaborators include Johns Hopkins University, Pfizer, Teva, IBM, MC10, Apple, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the West Health Institute, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and the National Institutes of Health.

Jennifer Reid has nearly 10 years of clinical experience providing specialized physical therapy to individuals with a variety of neurologic disorders, balance issues and vertigo.  

Upon receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Rutgers University (formerly UMDNJ) in 2011, she went on to work at Helen Hayes Hospital and New York Presbyterian Hospital, completing numerous specialty rotations in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.  


She holds a Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, Certification in Vestibular Rehabilitation through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Duke University as well as LSVT BIG and PWR! Certifications for patients with Parkinson’s Disease.  In addition to her clinical work, she is an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University’s DPT program. She brings a wide breadth of experience, a keen clinical eye and a warm, personal approach to her patient care.
