This Fall, we are excited to present an invaluable workshop exploring mind-body medicine.
Dr Sarah Mulukutla, MD MPH is a board-certified neurologist and national leader in Integrative Neurology. She incorporates principles of yoga and meditation into her research to treat neurological conditions, and has taught meditation to physicians and patients since 2012.
After completing Neurology training at Yale, Dr Mulukutla worked in various hospital- and outpatient neurology settings, treating a wide range of neurological conditions. In 2016, she founded the Section on Neurohealth & Integrative Neurology at the American Academy of Neurology. This platform has given her a national stage to teach about mind-body medicine and advance the dialogue in complementary therapies and holistic Neurology care.
This course combines Dr Mulukutla's insights from 10+ years of working with people with Parkinson's disease, traditional yoga methodology, and the scientific understanding of brain anatomy and function.

Mindful Neurology is a five-week meditation course for people with Parkinson's disease, their families, and care partners. Developed by Dr. Sarah Mulukulta, a neurologist and researcher with 20 years of meditation experience and an understanding of PD-related physiology. Family members and care partners participate to learn the techniques themselves and to provide support at home.
During this comprehensive series, Dr. Mulukulta will introduce meditation techniques that foster greater symptom awareness and encourage the formation of beneficial habits aimed at improving daily living. These methods are simple, practical tools that can be seamlessly integrated into daily routines to enhance overall well-being and symptom management. The course includes unique techniques with measurable outcomes.
The structure of the course will include five sessions: 3 online (1 hour 15 minutes each) and two in-person (2 hours each). Each session includes a didactic presentation, group meditation led by Dr. Mulukulta, and time for participants to share their experiences and observations. Sessions cover topics such as the science of the wandering mind, focus and concentration, trait mindfulness, kinesthetic motor imagery, and stress management. Audio recordings will be available for home practice.
