This year’s theme, “Your Winning Team: Medicine and Complementary Therapies for Living Well with Parkinson’s,” will guide a year-long series of impactful events and workshops.  Each program is carefully designed to inform, inspire, and build connections between patients, care partners, and the healthcare community.

“Finding Meaning and Purpose After PD Diagnosis”

A symposium led by Hiral Shah, MD, Assistant Professor of Neurology Medical Director, Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, The Neurological Institute of New York, Columbia University Medical Center New York-Presbyterian, Medical Group Westchester, will include four panelists of men and women living with PD who are following their dreams.  We will feature inspirational stories from individuals who have found meaning and purpose through creativity and passion after PD diagnosis.  As Victor Frankl said, “Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.” Life is improved immeasurably once meaning is found.  Writer Ashley Asti will join us in leading an interactive journaling workshop on the theme of finding your own gift to live a meaningful life after PD diagnosis.  An Art Show comprising local artists, Care Partners, and People with Parkinson’s will be on view in the Gallery.
